Happy Halloween!

Well, today we learned that Evie does not like to be held by strangers when she's overly tired. I wasn't going to have her go trick-or-treating but Vanessa and her cousins really wanted her to tag along, so we did. She looked super cute in her costume and was doing fine until she got tired. It was right around this point that Vanessa's mom, aunt, and grandma got to meet and hold Evie. She wailed like I've never heard her do before! Poor girl. My mom took her then and she fell asleep within 5 minutes. She never even made it out the door for trick-or-treating, lol. Maybe next year she'll be more up for it.

Precious sleep

Ah, sleep...it is wonderful. Evie has started sleeping through the night. Not quite up to 12 hours yet but we have had 2 nights in a row of more than 8 hours straight of sleep! If only I could retrain myself to be able to stay asleep that entire time, lol. I am so used to waking up that I wake up while she sleeps. I am sure I will get used to sleeping again :-)

2 months old

Evelyn is just two days shy of two months old (or 8w 3d). Earlier today we had her 2 month check up. She's now 11lbs 8oz, 22.75 in long, with a 15.25 in head.

Dr. S did say that she has a slight problem with her neck muscles pulling her head to the right but that it should resolve itself. Extra tummy time will help it go away quicker. She did a great job tracking his hand a full 180 degrees (fully right to left) which is what assured him that her problem was minimal. If for some reason it doesn't go away, physical therapy will be considered.

Then came what I had been dreading most...shots! In the hospital I bawled while she screamed during her blood draw so I wasn't looking forward to the cries that were sure to follow her shots today. Shaun, in true fashion, couldn't stop himself from laughing as Evie's face turned bright red and an ear piercing cry followed her silent shaking within moments of the second shot (the nurse being quick enough that the first shot didn't have time to register). I managed to do well until discovering my soothing efforts weren't having the calming effect I wanted to provide her. Thankfully, after calming her down enough to nurse, she settled in and became her normal relaxed self. She's been sleeping ever since.

Overall, things went very well today and we have a happy, healthy, growing baby!

Smile!

I love this milestone! Evie smiles a lot now. I had a follow up to my postpartum appointment today and as a bonus they weighed Evie. She now weighs 10 lbs 14.5 oz. Her two month check up is on the 14th. Not looking forward for to her getting shots and the crying that follows :-(
